HOTEL & RESORT UPDATE : Discover Dominica, the Nature Island

We are sad to report that Jungle Bay, a luxury eco-resort located in the southeastern corner of Dominica, sustained severe damage during the storm and is not currently operational. The future of the resort has not yet been determined.

Prior to the storm, Dominica boasted 94 hotels and resorts offering a total of 1,022 guest rooms. While a number of properties were damaged, repairs have been made and the welcome mat is out! Nature Island hoteliers are looking forward to a busy holiday and Carnival season, and are anxious to welcome YOU during YOUR next trip!

Secret-Bay webOur hotels and resorts continue to reap accolades. The Knot recently chose Secret Bay as one of its 50 hottest honeymoon destinations around the world. According to the magazine, the resort is "as dreamy as it sounds." Secret Bay and Dominica were also recommended as one of the top 10 places to go for an Adventurous Honeymoon. Reasons given for this recognition were the Waitukubuli Trail, the Caribbean's longest hiking trail; Syndicate Nature Trail (for spotting parrots); exploring the rainforest that covers a third of the island; and relaxing in one of the many natural hot pools.

Rosalie-Bay-Resort webRosalie Bay Resort was recently named the winner of the CHIEF Award for Sustainability by the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA). The CHIEF awards were open to all of the 600 CHTA member hotels and given in the following categories: Sustainability, Sales and Marketing, and Operations. Rosalie Bay Resort was selected as the best of the best in the Sustainability category. According to Resort Manager Daryl Aaron, "Rosalie Bay Resort's sustainability management plan has always guided us and continues to do so, particularly as we recover from the recent devastating effects of Tropical Storm Erika."

In addition, Rosalie Bay has once again been named among the 2015 Condé Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards for Best Resorts in the Caribbean. Jumping a staggering 35 spots to the No. 10 spot, the eco-boutique and wellness resort is a favorite among the world's most discerning travelers. More than 128,000 readers — the most in its history — participated in this year's survey.
