With spring just around the corner, the Nature Island is getting ready for the start of the annual sea turtle season and you should, too! Sea turtles come ashore to lay their eggs beginning in March. Hatching can begin as early as June and take place into October.

Dominica's sea turtle conservation initiatives have been cited by Ethical Traveler in its recognition of the island as a top ethical destination.

Visitors are invited to assist in patrolling the beach and helping the turtle team collect data. Guests of Rosalie Bay Resort, for example, can sign up for turtle wake-up calls for nestings and hatches. With Rosalie Bay Resort's Guaranteed Sea Turtle Package, overnight guests who sign up for the package, and the turtle wake-up calls, are guaranteed they will witness turtle activity or they'll receive a discount on their stay.

Susan Campbell, Canadian-based Caribbean travel writer, shared her experience of the sea turtle release at Rosalie Bay Resort.

"It was one of the highlights of my year! Such a wonderful feeling to help these little ones into the sea safely, and I applaud Rosalie Bay for taking such positive steps toward the protection of and the education about sea turtles on the island," added Campbell.
