Dominica's 2016 Jazz 'n Creole Festival is set for Sunday, May 15 at Fort Shirley in the Cabrits National Park. A number of fringe events will take place across the island in the days leading up to the main stage event. Jazz 'n Creole offers a fusion of jazz and creole music, scrumptious food and a celebration of local culture.

Recently announced artists for the 7th edition of the main stage event include London-born and Dominica-raised guitarist, Cameron Pierre. Pierre first performed at Jazz 'n Creole in 2012. His early musical influences include Bob Marley, Burning Spear, Jimmy Cliff and Stevie Wonder.

The group Soft, born in Guadeloupe in 2000 and featuring lead guitarist Fred Deshayes, is also slated for the event. Soft brings a unique humane and harmonious musical experience. The group has performed on stages around the world with sold out concerts and has proudly represented the French Caribbean throughout Europe!

Another Jazz 'n Creole performer is Trinidad-based music ensemble élan parlé. The band blends Caribbean rhythms with global music influences to create Caribbean/World fusion. Using freewheeling improvisation over carefully crafted compositions, élan parlé brings a contemporary jazz perspective to the musical and cultural traditions of Trinidad and Tobago.

Also performing is Andy Narell, who released his first solo album in 1979 with the inclusion of the steel pan in a jazz band. He has incorporated the steel pan into varying genres of contemporary music, including his 2014 album, "Oui ma Chérie."

To bring down the curtains and ensure the Creole tradition, the Cadence All Stars comprised of former musicians from Exile One, Billomen and WCK will perform songs from a long list of cadence favorites.
